About The Position

MistyWest is an engineering design and hardware product development consultancy dedicated to turning innovative concepts into manufacturable products. With a strong focus on projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, MistyWest collaborates with clients to deliver impactful solutions across electrical, mechanical, and firmware disciplines. As a Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping product architecture and technical direction, guiding multidisciplinary teams through the entire project lifecycle. You will be responsible for translating client visions into actionable technical tasks, ensuring deliverables meet the highest standards of technical accuracy and client relevance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware product development
  • 3+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary product development teams across electrical, mechanical, and firmware
  • Proficiency with Altium (or equivalent) for schematic capture, PCB layout, and verification
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, Onshape, or equivalent mechanical CAD
  • Track record of taking at least one hardware product through EVT, DVT, and PVT stages
  • Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, lab-instrument-based debugging, and integrated system troubleshooting
  • Experience working directly with clients or external stakeholders on technical product development projects
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Ability to do occasional travel to client sites

  • Experience developing products in industrial safety and/or wearable technology

Responsibilities

  • Leading product architecture and technical direction across electrical, mechanical, and firmware disciplines
  • Owning the project lifecycle from initial prospecting through delivery, including scoping, estimating, and managing system design tradeoffs
  • Defining product requirements and translating them into technical tasks for cross-functional teams
  • Communicating goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to secure team buy-in and meet project schedules
  • Engaging directly with clients to understand their vision, manage expectations, and conduct weekly alignment check-ins
  • Advocating for client vision internally while identifying and surfacing scope changes
  • Soliciting input from discipline leads for estimating, design reviews, and quality control
  • Ensuring deliverables meet standards for technical accuracy, scientific integrity, and client relevance
  • Coordinating multiple concurrent project assignments in a deadline-driven environment
