About The Position

GrayMatter is seeking a Technical Lead to join its Building Automation Services team. The role focuses on executing specialized work efficiently, accurately, and competently, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. It is generally task-oriented and calls for a disciplined, careful, and detail-oriented approach.

The Technical Lead performs GrayMatter services focused on controls and SCADA systems used in data centers, power generation, and advanced manufacturing. The role designs, develops, and implements automated process solutions; contributes to project teams; assists with project development, planning, and engineering; supports onsite startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning; and builds training curricula for site teams.

This is a remote role based out of Portland, Oregon, with occasional but not extensive travel. Pre-employment drug screening and a background check are required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, such as chemical engineering, electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering, or mechanical engineering technology; an equivalent combination of experience and training may also be considered.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, AVEVA, or Schneider PSO.
• Experience with field startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution schemes, UPS, power metering, and relay monitoring.
• Understanding of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control concepts.
• Experience with control systems implementation, design, installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Networking experience with Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and 61850.
• Acute attention to detail and process.
• Strong problem-solving and research skills, with an excellent customer service attitude.

Nice To Haves

• PLC platform experience, including Allen-Bradley, Modicon, or Siemens.
