About The Position

We are seeking a Technical Lead for Vehicle Multimedia Systems to join a Japanese IT Company in Plano, TX. This on-site contract role involves leading the development of multimedia products throughout their lifecycle, from planning and development to launch and release. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in automotive multimedia systems, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to manage suppliers and stakeholders effectively. You will be responsible for defining project scope for the North American region, coordinating vehicle milestones, and triaging complex in-market issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in vehicle multimedia system development.
  • Strong understanding of automotive multimedia hardware and software stacks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional development projects.
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with software, firmware, testing, manufacturing, and product development teams.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Business-level Japanese reading and writing skills are a strong plus (not required).

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of vehicle multimedia architecture, including Head Unit, Navigation, Voice Assistant, Media, SiriusXM (SXM), Connected Audio, and related systems.
  • Lead multimedia product development throughout planning, development, launch, quality assurance, and release phases.
  • Coordinate vehicle milestones and software release schedules with stakeholders, including collaboration with headquarters in Japan.
  • Define project development scope for the North American region considering budget, resources, capabilities, and project timelines.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure schedule alignment and mitigate project risks.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers and Product Owners to assess technical risks and support project decision-making.
  • Triage complex in-market issues across multiple domains by conducting technical investigations, specification reviews, user impact analysis, and system architecture evaluations.
  • Work closely with quality assurance and manufacturing teams to align vehicle milestones and develop countermeasure plans for identified risks.
  • Drive communication and collaboration among software, firmware, testing, design, manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams.
