About The Position

The Loblaw Enterprise Integration (EI) landscape is entering its most significant transformation period. With the introduction of a new operating model, large-scale cloud migrations, and the onboarding of new enterprise data flows, this role operates as a technical platform leadership function responsible for the design, reliability, and evolution of distributed integration systems at scale. You will lead the stability and architecture of Loblaw’s integration backbone, governing 1,000+ enterprise data flows across Stores, Pharmacy, Supply Chain, SAP, Digital, and core data platforms. This role requires deep ownership of integration patterns, system dependencies, and failure modes, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance across mission-critical systems. Why This Role Matters: Enterprise Integration is the invisible backbone of the organization. This role is critical to ensuring that transformation across cloud, data, and other critical platforms is delivered without compromising stability, performance, or business continuity. What You’ll Impact * Reliability and performance of 1,000+ enterprise integrations * Stability of systems supporting 1,500+ stores, pharmacies and enterprise platforms * Success of Loblaw’s cloud, data, and enterprise transformation programs

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience across enterprise integration technologies, including: Messaging & File Transfer: IBM MQ, MQFTE; Integration & Orchestration: ACE / IIB; Managed File Transfer / B2B: Cleo (EDI integrations); API Management: Apigee (or equivalent API gateways); Orchestration: Cloud Composer (Airflow); Data & Processing: Dataflow (stream and batch pipelines); Storage & File Patterns: Cloud Storage
  • Deep understanding of enterprise integration patterns: Asynchronous messaging and queue-based architectures, API orchestration and service-based communication, File-based and EDI integration workflows, Event-driven architecture (pub/sub, streaming systems)
  • Strong grasp of distributed systems behavior, including: Failure modes, retries, and recovery patterns, Throughput, latency, and back-pressure handling, Dependency management across multi-tiered systems
  • Proven experience in: Owning and stabilizing large-scale production platforms, Leading platform and enterprise transformation programs
  • Ability to operate at both: Deep technical level (design, troubleshooting, optimization), Platform leadership level (architecture decisions, cross-system alignment)

Responsibilities

  • Own and stabilize Enterprise Integration platforms, including: IBM MQ, MQFTE, ACE/IIB, Cleo (MFT/EDI), Apigee (API gateway), Airflow (Cloud Composer), and Google Cloud data platforms
  • Lead cutover, parallel run, and rollback strategies during platform migrations, ensuring seamless transition and stability across legacy and target environments.
  • Define and enforce enterprise integration standards and design patterns across messaging, APIs, file-based, and event-driven architectures.
  • Enable and standardize modern integration patterns: Event-driven architecture (Pub/Sub, event-based flows), API-led integrations, File & B2B integration (Cleo, Cloud Storage), Orchestration (Airflow / Cloud Composer), Data pipelines (Big Query, Dataflow)
  • Design and implement resilient integration patterns, including retry strategies, dead-letter queues, idempotency, and failure isolation to ensure system stability under high-volume, distributed workloads.
  • Lead observability initiatives using Grafana and flow-level monitoring across distributed systems
  • Own end-to-end operational readiness and stabilization for major modernization initiatives
  • Act as the single technical authority across EI platforms during concurrent, high-risk transformations
  • Provide clear technical and strategic leadership POV in governance and transformation forums
