About The Position

This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations. HII designs, develops, integrates and manages the sensors, systems and other assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision-making. The Technical Lead – Engineering provides advanced systems engineering support for mission-critical defense technologies. This role focuses on translating operational mission needs into technical requirements, guiding system design, and supporting development, integration, and testing across electronic warfare, counter UAS, intelligence, cyber, and other advanced mission systems. The Technical Lead leverages deep operational experience and technical fluency to ensure emerging capabilities are both technically sound and operationally relevant.

Requirements

  • 8 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years relevant progressive experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, mission systems development, R&D, or defense prototyping.
  • Strong background in requirements development, systems integration, and technology assessment.
  • Hands-on experience transitioning capabilities from prototype to operational fielding.
  • Experience supporting DoD, interagency organizations, or allied international partners.
  • Familiarity with EW, CUAS, cyber, intelligence, and advanced sensing technologies.
  • Ability to translate mission needs into technically actionable engineering artifacts.
  • Ability to Obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Certifications such as PMP or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Possess and maintains a Top-Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Translate operational needs from DoD and interagency partners into clear technical requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Support concept development, prototyping, integration, test, and fielding of advanced EW, CUAS, cyber, intelligence, and sensing systems.
  • Conduct capability analyses, technology trades, and competitive assessments that inform engineering design decisions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and government stakeholders to align system design with mission objectives.
  • Perform systems integration, verification, and validation activities throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Develop system architectures, interface definitions, concepts of operation (CONOPS), and test plans.
  • Support R&D portfolio activities with technical expertise to ensure mission relevance and engineering rigor.
  • Engage with stakeholders across agencies to clarify requirements, accelerate development, and support transition of prototype systems into operational use.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in EW, intelligence systems, offensive UAS, cyber capabilities, technical surveillance, and related mission areas.
  • Apply operational military experience to assess system feasibility, field utility, and performance in realistic mission environments.
