About The Position

Pratt & Whitney Canada has a rare opportunity for a Technical Investigator at our Bridgeport, West Virginia location. The Technical Investigator is a critical role to our organization that supports investigation activities on P&W Canada engines involved in accidents or incidents across the globe. In this role, you will lead and develop root cause analyses related to incidents and report findings to the proper regulatory organizations. You will also work closely with various internal departments to create corrective action plans as necessary to ensure P&W’s quality standards are kept in the highest regard. To succeed in this role, you will be someone with perseverance and scientific/technical curiosity and ability to propose new and creative solutions. You will also be someone who pays strong attention to detail and has effective communication skills. You must have the ability to work under pressure on multiple projects with competing priorities and keep investigations moving along in a timely fashion. Travel will be required on occasion to support investigations and the candidate selected will be required to meet the travel expectations as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 8 years’ experience working with P&W engine models and a strong technical knowledge of assembly, disassembly, and test procedures, OR an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Prior technical experience with P&W Canada engines such as assembly, test, inspection, and/or engineering roles
  • Previous experience in Project management with long term projects
  • Fluency in French would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and conducting Service Investigation activities on engines, modules and parts involved in accidents or incidents affecting both the Safety and the Reliability/Performance of P&WC engines in operation.
  • Responsible for the determination of the root cause of the events by means of internal coordination role with other disciplines (Material and Chemical Laboratories, Chief Engineering Office, Engineering Programs, Customer Support, Quality Department and Maintenance & Repair Organization).
  • As a Technical Investigator, you will play a focal contact point role with the international investigative authorities (TSB, NTSB, BEA…) as well as key role in the service difficulties reports forums (SDR) with the certification authorities (TCCA, FAA, EASA).
  • Service Investigation also supports the company legal department in litigations.
