About The Position

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Under the general supervision of the Charge Sonographer, Manager, Director or designate in the Diagnostic Services portfolio, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of Shared Health. The Clinical Instructor is responsible for the supervision of the students of the Red River College Polytech, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program. In addition, the Clinical Instructor will liaison with other accredited college related programs. Functions as an independent self-directed professional in the delivery of direct patient care. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensures compliance with quality assurance program.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years' experience as a Sonographer.
  • Must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Ultrasound training program.
  • Active registration status with Sonography Canada in the appropriate practitioner category. An exemption may be granted for sonographers who hold active registration status with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the appropriate specialty provided that the manager or designate determines competency of the sonography is compliant with the competency requirements of Sonography Canada.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements in accordance to Shared Health policy.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of office applications in a Windows environment.
  • Demonstrates strong organization and prioritizing skills.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships in a multi-disciplinary team and with external agencies, groups and the public.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position including being able to stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
  • Must demonstrate the use of safe and effective body mechanics while working with clients.
  • Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy clients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.
  • Must be able to lift and position clients, some of whom are in a state of unconsciousness.
  • A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory or teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs preferred.
