The Technical Illustrator plays a critical role in developing and delivering flexible packaging specifications. As a technical resource, the Technical Illustrator collaborates with customers, packers, graphic designers, converters, and internal departments to ensure seamless packaging solutions that meet performance and aesthetic requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs
  • Must have proven ability to multi-task effectively
  • Strong technical drawing and design skills.
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, CAD tools).
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, Graphic and Print Production, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Complete testing per WIN_0069 – General Hiring Practice Guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with packaging materials, converting processes, and graphic layout specifications is considered an asset.
  • Experience in prototype development is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Specification Development: Create precise die lines as templates for graphic layouts, converting specifications, and product packing requirements using the latest vector design software. Develop production layouts for print, lamination, trimming, and perforation processes.
  • Project and Resource Management: Maintain and manage production drawing logs and design libraries. Conduct quality checks on production drawings and product specification forms.
  • Prototyping and Evaluation: Hand-make prototypes using paper- and film-based packaging materials. Evaluate existing package samples, document specifications, and support quoting for new business opportunities.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Assist Sales and Marketing teams by providing design consultations, conceptual package designs, and packaging prototypes. Maintain open communication with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure packaging solutions meet requirements.
  • Innovation and Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and trends in packaging design and manufacturing.
