About The Position

The Technical Field Advisor I, Generator Commissioning will work under the direction of the Commissioning Lead and support the commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover of Mitsubishi Power gas and steam turbine generators and associated auxiliary systems. This position is responsible for providing technical field support throughout project execution, including generator inspections, electrical testing, mechanical system commissioning, troubleshooting, and startup activities. The role collaborates with commissioning leadership, engineering teams, and site personnel to ensure safe and successful generator commissioning and commercial operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in an Engineering discipline from a four-year college or university and 1-3 years of experience in power generation construction, commissioning, electrical testing, or industrial operations. Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience will be considered.
  • Understanding of generator principles, electrical safety practices, and power generation systems.
  • Familiarity with generator commissioning activities including electrical testing, excitation systems, protection relays, lube oil systems, seal oil systems, hydrogen systems, and startup support.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, process diagrams, control logic drawings, and protection system documentation.
  • Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting using digital multimeters and related test equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data, identify issues, and communicate technical findings effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and electronic mail applications.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 90% of the year to domestic and international project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Multilingual in Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform startup, operation, troubleshooting, testing, and inspections of large-frame gas and steam turbine generators and associated auxiliary systems.
  • Read and interpret process diagrams, electrical schematics, generator protection drawings, control logic diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Support electrical testing and commissioning activities for generators, excitation systems, static frequency converters (SFC), and generator protection systems.
  • Support commissioning and flushing activities for lube oil, seal oil, hydrogen, and other critical generator support systems.
  • Perform inspections of generators and auxiliary plant equipment and report findings to commissioning leadership.
  • Provide operator training before commercial operation of a new power plant.
  • Complete commissioning documentation, test certificates, turnover packages, and training records.
  • Oversee installation verification and testing of assigned systems.
  • Report non-conformance issues and interface with design engineering teams to support issue resolution.
  • Follow Mitsubishi Power and site safety requirements at all times.
  • Work in a global environment to maintain standards and incorporate industry best practices.
  • Actively participate in Mitsubishi Power sponsored training programs and development activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Always maintain a valid driver's license and passport.
