About The Position

3form is a leading manufacturer of architectural decorative resin and glass products, acoustic solutions, and markerboards. The Technical Estimator (TE) is responsible for developing solutions and quoting phases of a project opportunity. The TE is the main point of contact for customers (Architects, Designers, General Contractors and Sub-contractors) and will provide direct support to the assigned Project Manager once the order is booked. This is a customer-facing, revenue-driven role, and the ideal candidate must be confident discussing a broad range of 3form technical solutions (training will be provided) to our customers and deliver them in a professional manner both verbally and in documented forms. The successful Technical Estimator will be able to multitask and prioritize competing tasks and deadlines and demonstrate the ability to make the best decisions under pressure from customers on various projects in different stages of completion. The Technical Estimator will work along with the assigned Technical Specialists and Material Consultants in driving the growth of the company and team’s revenue. The Technical Estimator will lead sales calls with the clients (Architects and Designers) and Material Consultants to identify a design solution and develop a formal quote in a timely manner. Once the order has been placed, the Technical Estimator will hand over the project / order to an assigned Project Manager (PM) and will provide to them as needed post order placement. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to anticipate and address any potential issues. A strong team player, who is proactive, possesses creative problem-solving skills and demonstrates good business judgment. This position requires the Technical Estimator to be responsive to requests from customers and colleagues.

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years’ experience in architectural, interior or industrial design or construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, design and fabrication drawings is required.
  • Working knowledge of architectural millwork, architectural steelwork and custom hardware is necessary.
  • Ability to interpret architectural renderings, thumbnail sketches or other preliminary documentation and provide design solutions to meet design intent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Construction Management or related field.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Level – AutoCAD
  • Intermediate Level – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a bonus.
  • Revit, SolidWorks, Rhino, SketchUp or similar 3‐dimensional modeling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads pre‐arranged sales calls (remotely) with Material Consultants and other specialists as needed; participates in team‐based scope development products and solutions.
  • Works to identify a design solution that fits with the customer’s budget, schedule and design requirements.
  • Develops technical specifications and details to meet client’s design intent.
  • Establishes fees and develops budgets and quotes for custom materials and fabrication.
  • Prepares quotation document and leads in presentation to the client.
  • Is the main point of contact for Designers + Architects during the quoting and design development phase.
  • Is the main point of contact for the Material Consultants, Specifiers and Contractors during the bidding stage.
