About The Position

Chippewa Government Solutions LLC, a Sault Tribe Inc. (“STI Federal”) company, is searching for a dynamic and skilled Journeyman Technical Editor to be a key part of our expanding team! Requirements

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize complex information into clear, accessible content.
  • Foundational understanding of technical writing or documentation processes (coursework or internship acceptable).
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to work collaboratively under the guidance of senior writers and SMEs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn DOE systems such as STRIPES, FAST, PAGE, and PMC.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and alignment with STI Federal’s core values.
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Up to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Supports senior staff and performs documentation and writing duties under oversight.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a federal clearance up to Top Secret/DOE Q clearance levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to DOE programs, technical documentation, or federal communication standards through coursework or early career experience.
  • Familiarity with energy, critical minerals, manufacturing, or applied technology topics relevant to CMEI programs.
  • Experience drafting or assisting with reports, manuals, SOPs, or program guidance documents.
  • Understanding of IIJA-funded programs, federal Technical Assistance documentation, or multi-stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to translate technical information into accessible language for broad audiences including states, Tribes, municipalities, nonprofits, and private-sector partners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in originating, preparing, and editing written materials such as technical reports, guidance documents, brochures, SOPs, and manuals for internal and external use.
  • Research and analyze available literature, materials, and program documentation to support content development and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Verify copy and content with appropriate program offices, SMEs, analysts, engineers, and other department representatives.
  • Support the coordination of production, scheduling, and distribution of written and digital materials across DOE program offices and recipient stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all written materials meet DOE standards, comply with CMEI guidance, and support clear communication for Technical Assistance delivery.
  • Prepare draft summaries, templates, visual aids, and content outlines for senior staff review.
