About The Position

SLR Consulting (Americas) is seeking a Technical Editor to join their team. This role is crucial in preparing and delivering technical reports and other documentation for various projects, ensuring they are readable, concise, and professionally formatted. The ideal candidate will possess strong proofreading and writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration and effective communication with colleagues across different locations and time zones are essential. This position is based in Victoria, BC, with flexible work options.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English or journalism, and/or a combination of formal training and 5 or more years of experience in a similar role.
At least one year of experience as a technical or grammatical editor within STEM fields.
Superior written communication skills – a sample of your previous work and/or skill testing may be required.
Strong proficiency in MS Word and Adobe Acrobat.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
Proactive, self-driven, and results oriented work ethic.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Willingness and ability to obtain Federal Security Clearance in Canada.

Nice To Haves

Legal editing experience is also an asset.
Co-op experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

Proofread and edit technical reports and other technical documentation for correct grammar, consistency in “voice,” and to match house style.
Format large, complex documents using MS Word and Excel, and publish complete reports using Adobe Acrobat, including inserting graphics and tables into a final .pdf document.
Prepare/update report templates.
Work together with the Documentation Lead to ensure consistency and timely production and delivery of reports.
