About The Position

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Editor/Graphic Designer supporting Test Operations and Sustainment (TOS) at Arnold AFB, Tennessee. The Technical Editor/Graphic Designer’s primary responsibilities include planning, writing and editing, proofreading, coordinating production of simple to highly complex documents and other print and electronic media for accuracy, consistency, professional quality, and conformance to appropriate style guide and to develop creative graphics designs for a variety of products for use on various communication platforms in support of the BNH mission. The successful candidate will create graphic products showcasing BNH’s support of the Air Force mission and also provide technical editing support (editing, proofreading, formatting) to ensure instructional documents are accurate and conform to the proper style guide. Duties require a thorough knowledge and understanding of graphic design processes, organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and a high degree of initiative.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, communications, advertising, or a related creative field, and a minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in commercial marketing, advertising, corporate communications, or a professional design studio/agency.
  • In lieu of degree, fourteen (11) years of experience with a high school diploma.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance requirements and the necessity to access secure federal databases and networks on Arnold Air Force Base.

  • Technical writing, proofreading, and editing skills normally acquired through specialized education, training or experience.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of grammatical rules, spelling, composition, and style.
  • Ability to work from a style guide.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge, understanding, and experience using Adobe Creative Suite programs, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to create original unique designs.
  • Knowledge of the print process, including proper file setup for print production and experience working directly with print vendors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Review document requirements and content issues with customers and/or authors and coordinate production of project with graphics, document formatting, reprographics, presentations, and any additional editorial support.
  • Perform standard document formatting, editing, and production including electronic comment incorporation, importing graphic files, formatting tables, and developing, using and applying templates and styles.
  • Develop and maintain forms.
  • Perform quality checks on documents and other print and electronic media for accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain master documents, as well as any corresponding records, support documentation, and resource files.
  • Update and maintain both the BNH internal SharePoint site and the external website.
  • Develop creative graphic designs for a variety of communication products, e.g., brochures, banners, flyers, signs, maps, exhibits, and infographics, for various platforms, e.g., newspapers, social media, and websites.
  • Develop and maintain BNH presentation templates.
  • Manage design projects from concept to completion to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet customer’s satisfaction and expectation.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop graphic images/products in support of and to accompany BNH marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and interact with off-site vendors to ensure delivery of quality products.
  • Provide graphic design support for BNH special events.
  • Serve as a backup for the TOS Public Affairs graphic designer.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
