This is a Part-Time Casual Technical Director role for Sportsnet.

Responsibilities

  • Excel at switching live shows, including Sportsnet Central, Hockey Central, Blue Jays Central, Raptors Central, National Bank Open and more.
  • Make quick, accurate decisions under time constraints while maintaining a clean broadcast.
  • Comfortably and confidently operate various production switchers, clip servers, scopes, multiviewers, remote broadcast technology and other ancillary equipment.
  • Initiate and lead the technical facilities check.
  • Ensure that cameras, audio, intercom, tally, graphics, sponsor elements, playback sources and more, are functioning prior to every broadcast.
  • Collaborate with Production to execute on the creative vision and creatively build shows in line with brand standards.
  • Act as the Operations crew leader, using clear, constructive and decisive communication.
  • Display a deep understanding of signal flows in both SDI and 2110 environments; work closely with Distribution and Master Control on all contribution feeds.
  • Work closely with Engineering to identify and trouble shoot equipment issues, ensuring the least amount of impact to live production.
  • Continuously examine performance of internal network systems; identify and act immediately upon inconsistencies.
  • Maximize available resources for the ever-growing requirements of Rogers Sports and Media’s market leading content offerings; liaise with Directors and Producers, Management and Engineering on all technical maintenance and repair related issues.
