About The Position

The Technical Coordinator will oversee the technical and operational functions of the newly developed Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Research Laboratory which will jointly serve Cooper University Hospital, the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, and Cooper Medical School of Rowan. Oversight includes daily operations, assay development, quality control and implementation of new protocols. Direct the day-to-day technical operations of the Immunohistochemistry Research Core Lab. Develop, optimize, and validate IHC and ISH protocols. Establish and maintain high standards for quality assurance, reagent management, and instrument performance. Work closely with researchers, clinicians, and trainees to coordinate project workflows and ensure high-quality sample processing. Provide technical expertise and consultation on experiment design and staining methodology. Maintain documentation, SOPs, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. Train and supervise technical staff, students, and trainees involved with IHC-related projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Degree in biomedical or life sciences disciplines.
  • 0-2 years required.
  • Significant laboratory experience with immunohistochemistry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to collaborate with team members from any department required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IHC methods, tissue handling, antigen retrieval, chromogenic and fluorescent detection, and protocol optimization required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing laboratory operations or leading technical workflows required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree/Doctorate Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years preferred.
