About The Position

BCI Solutions is seeking a Technical Director to lead the technical direction of their gray and ductile iron foundry. This role is for someone who is driven to improve processes, challenge assumptions, and foster a culture of technical excellence, rather than simply maintaining the status quo. The Technical Director will own the science behind the foundry operations, including core, mold, melt chemistry, sand systems, defect analysis, process capability, and technical development. This is an opportunity to drive real change and make a significant impact on the foundry's future.

Requirements

Experience in foundry operations, specifically with gray and ductile iron.
Expertise in metallurgy, core, mold, melt chemistry, and sand systems.
Proficiency in defect analysis and process capability assessment.
Ability to develop systems for quality, consistency, and productivity improvement.
Strong collaboration skills with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
Experience in mentoring and developing technical talent.
Ability to evaluate and implement new technologies, materials, and manufacturing practices.
Data-driven decision-making.
Takes ownership and initiative.
Ability to communicate effectively, even when discussing uncomfortable truths.

Responsibilities

Own the metallurgy of gray and ductile iron operations.
Drive continuous improvement across core, melting, molding, sand, and process control.
Lead defect investigations using metallurgical analysis and data.
Develop systems that improve quality, consistency, and productivity.
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to solve difficult manufacturing challenges.
Mentor and develop technical talent throughout the organization.
Evaluate new technologies, materials, and manufacturing practices that move the business forward.
