About The Position

Hill House Home is seeking a Technical Designer to support its New York team across all women’s ready-to-wear categories. The role ensures accurate fit, construction, and quality across prototype, fit, and production samples, and works closely with Product, Design, Development, and overseas vendors. The position is hybrid, working from the company’s New York City offices three to four days per week.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, and CAD software for technical sketches and specifications.
Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, grading, and textiles.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical information.

Responsibilities

Partner with Design and Development teams at hand-off to understand garment fit, construction, and material intent.
Maintain and update development and production tech packs, including construction details, points of measurement, and technical sketches, while ensuring consistency across seasonal styles.
Measure and evaluate incoming production samples, prepare them for fittings, and assess accuracy and quality.
Attend and lead production fittings as needed, take detailed notes, identify issues, and recommend improvements.
Communicate style updates promptly and clearly to overseas factories, addressing fit, construction, and workmanship improvements.
Issue and approve graded specifications for photoshoot samples and final approval, and conduct periodic plus-size fittings to support accurate and inclusive sizing.
Update work-in-progress records and track factory timelines alongside personal workload to ensure deliverables are timely and maintained.
Communicate daily with overseas vendors about fit, specifications, grading issues, and construction through fit comments with senior technical designers.
Manage personal workflow and workload to deliver assigned product areas on time.
Ensure fit consistency across related styles and uphold brand standards in alignment with customer feedback.
Support top-of-production sample management and ensure final samples meet expectations.
Provide accurate production specifications to the eCommerce team to support customer understanding of Hill House Home products and fit.
Perform additional duties as needed in support of company goals and daily operations.
