About The Position

The Technical Designer is responsible for producing technical designs using software like Solidwork or AutoCAD, and generating documents for components to be manufactured using computer assistance (CNC). This role requires ensuring the accuracy of dimensions and the clarity of technical designs, providing all necessary technical information for manufacturing without further clarification. The designer will collaborate with manufacturing and estimating teams to validate design drawings and confirm manufacturing methods, while also questioning existing methods to optimize structural components without compromising safety. A key aspect is continuously seeking improved manufacturing methods to enhance competitiveness. The position involves producing drawings according to customer standards, specifications, and engineering requirements, and problem-solving with subcontractors regarding fabrication and installation methods. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision, producing high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective drawings that maintain structural safety after installation. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, autonomy, analytical thinking, resourcefulness, and potentially leadership are valued, with knowledge in the field of signage being an asset.

Requirements

  • Formal training with design software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, Corel, etc.)
  • Competency with Excel and Microsoft Office package
  • Ability to work in both French and English
  • Experience with designing products for manufacture in similar industry
  • Mathematical skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills and an ability to work with others or independently
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, problem solving and able to meet deadlines as required
  • Ability to keep well informed of changes within the customer portfolio/systems
  • Ability to recognize change is constant as it relates to daily business activities, resources, customer requirements and communication methods
  • Problem Solving: Experienced Technical Designers will develop the ability to analyze and define a problem, evaluate alternatives, propose a solution to Colleagues
  • Concentrate, understand, and ask thoughtful questions to ensure task instructions are consistently completed with minimal errors and timely

Responsibilities
