About The Position

This role is for a Technical Designer, Special Markets, focusing on ensuring quality and style across various product categories.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in the apparel industry, including patternmaking and construction experience.
  • Full knowledge of the production process and timelines for Woven’s + Cut and Sew Knits product categories.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of Technical Design, including construction, fit, pattern making, fabric relation to design intent, and improving garment quality for Woven’s and Cut and Sew Knits product categories.
  • Proficiency in commercial fit and pattern standards, corrections, grading, construction manufacturing methods, sewing, and technical drawing.
  • Keen awareness and knowledge of the development and production calendar, process, and timelines, including experience driving solutions to meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to drive collaboration and excel in a team-based structure.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares for fittings by measuring samples, cross-examining them against style Tech Packs and previous fit samples to ensure corrections, and bringing previous fits to fit sessions for review.
  • Attends and leads fit sessions on live models or mannequins, taking initiative in assigned product categories.
  • Checks construction and quality of products to ensure proper construction for garment category and fabrication, identifying potential issues and making recommendations.
  • Anticipates and resolves pre-production and production problems during the fit process, partnering with vendors for resolution.
  • Executes fit comments in a timely manner to align with production and action timelines, partnering with the Product Development team on lead time priorities.
  • Reviews pre-production samples (PP’s) for adherence to approved fit and construction standards, executing comments as needed for PP approval and progression to production. Partners with Production Manager to resolve issues on PP’s and timelines.
  • Maintains professional and timely daily email correspondence with overseas vendors.
  • Tracks and manages workflow and workload for own product to ensure product areas are maintained with cross-functional teams, partnering with the Design and Production teams on critical priorities.
