About The Position

As a Technical Coordinator, you will play a pivotal part in managing well operations and regulatory application processes, overseeing the flow of applications, submissions, inquiries, approvals, and records across Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) systems. You will coordinate and support technical regulatory decision-making rather than performing detailed engineering analysis, and build strong cross-functional relationships, influencing process improvements that shape how the AER delivers services to industry. Requirements

  • Technical Diploma in environment, oil & gas or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in a regulatory, government, or energy industry environment.
  • Knowledge of well operations and lifecycle stages (drilling, completions, suspension, integrity management, abandonment).
  • Knowledge of AER Acts, Rules, and Directives pertaining to well operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and prioritize competing priorities.
  • Experience working with AER systems such as OneStop, Integrated Application Registry and Digital Data Submission system.
  • Maintained up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements, business operations and organizational priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and prioritize review of regulatory submissions (e.g., well operations variance requests) to facilitate efficient progress through the review process enable timely decisions.
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and support compliance management processes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage inquiries, approvals, and related records across multiple AER systems, to ensure timely regulatory processing, service standards, and data integrity.
  • Clearly communicate requirements and regulatory expectations to internal stakeholders and industry applicants, while facilitating issues resolution related to regulatory systems.
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance regulatory processes, technology, and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure regulatory decisions are traceable and defensible.
