Provides technical assistance to assigned team. Develops and maintains department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines and/or HNL policies. Provides technical expertise, continuing education and training to all staff within a designated clinical operations area. Assists in the ongoing departmental monitoring to improve quality, work flow, staff productivity and employee satisfaction. Prepares or directs preparation of various qualitative and quantitative reports and records. Provides support regarding financial reports to Finance upon request in conjunction with division manager/director. Reviews current literature and attends meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments within the field. Coordinates and reviews testing results as required by assigned team. May act as the Director of the HNL Phlebotomy School or other HNL initiatives. Performs verification/validation studies on new instrumentation and provides technical guidance and resolves problems associated with instrumentation. Establishes performance checks, preventative maintenance, and quality control programs for all instruments as well as evaluates quality control data and institutes corrective action as needed. Prepares and revises laboratory procedure manuals and provides technical in-service and orientation of new staff and develops training/competency checklists and provides clinical orientation and/or training of new employees/students and current employees.
