About The Position

The Technical Content Engineer, Cloud Native owns the technical content and self-serve experience that help builders evaluate, adopt, and succeed with Clumio. The role sits within the Cloud Native product organization and partners closely with engineering, product, growth, field, and partner teams. It treats documentation as a product surface and growth channel, with the goal of helping users reach their first successful backup without human assistance and supporting trial conversion. The engineer writes and maintains documentation, creates working code examples and infrastructure-as-code repositories, and validates documented workflows in real AWS environments. Content includes getting-started paths, service protection guides, API and SDK references, recovery runbooks, technical demos, hands-on labs, and AWS Marketplace and onboarding copy. The role also uses analytics and user feedback to improve activation, reduce friction, and inform product teams. The position calls for at least four years in a developer-facing technical role, working fluency with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools, and the ability to write both code and clear technical prose. Writing samples and example repositories are required. The posted base salary range is $72,250–$156,400 USD. The role is marked remote.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years in a developer-facing technical role, such as technical writing, developer relations, solutions engineering, support engineering, or software engineering with a strong writing track record.
  • Ability to write code and prose and validate code before publishing related documentation.
  • Working fluency in AWS, including S3, IAM, DynamoDB, RDS, and EC2, and understanding of how cloud teams operate.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK), APIs, SDKs, and the command line.
  • Fluency with docs-as-code practices, including Git, Markdown/MDX, PR-based review, and content that lives alongside the product.
  • Strong teaching instincts and ability to anticipate and address reader confusion.
  • Writing samples and example repositories demonstrating technical content that shipped and produced an impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in data protection, storage, data engineering, or lakehouse architectures such as Iceberg, Parquet, or S3 Tables.
  • Experience at a product-led company where documentation was a growth channel with measurable targets.
  • AWS certification, or a personal AWS account with a billing history that demonstrates hands-on use.
  • Experience with documentation analytics, search behavior, or optimizing content for AI retrieval.

Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain Clumio documentation, including getting-started paths, service-by-service protection guides, API and SDK references, and restore and recovery runbooks.
  • Create a fast self-service path for users to protect S3 buckets, DynamoDB tables, and RDS instances without support or sales assistance.
  • Write technical guides for S3 at scale, Apache Iceberg and S3 Tables, DynamoDB, EC2/EBS, and RDS/Aurora, including cost, scale, recovery time, and failure scenarios.
  • Own technical content for AWS Marketplace listings, trial flows, and in-product onboarding.
  • Build and maintain working example repositories, including Terraform modules, CloudFormation and CDK templates, scripts, and sample integrations.
  • Test documented workflows in real AWS environments, validating code, permissions, and failure modes.
  • Develop hands-on labs and GameDay content for AWS events.
  • Create short technical demos and walkthroughs in written, visual, or recorded formats.
  • Produce content designed to rank in search and be retrieved and cited by AI assistants, using concrete mechanisms, examples, numbers, and scenarios.
  • Identify and answer builders’ questions about cloud data protection.
  • Turn customer-scale outcomes, such as petabytes, object counts, recovery times, and cost differences, into public proof.
  • Track content performance, including activation rate, time to first backup, trial-to-paid conversion, docs-sourced signups, and support deflection.
  • Bring product friction and documentation issues to engineering and product teams.
  • Partner with growth on onboarding experiments and with field and partner teams to support self-service and seller enablement.
  • Own the content roadmap and engage with engineering before features ship.
