About The Position

The Technical Community & Advocacy Manager is responsible for growing Renesas' presence and influence across external engineering and developer communities. This role focuses on building relationships, fostering engagement, and representing Renesas within third-party technical communities where engineers, developers, makers, and technology professionals actively seek information, share resources, and discuss industry trends. The ideal candidate combines a strong technical background with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for engaging with engineering audiences. They understand the needs of developers and embedded engineers and can act as a credible community advocate and how trust is built within technical communities. Success in this role is measured by the strength of Renesas' relationships and reputation across external engineering ecosystems, the quality of insights gathered from the community, and the ability to connect engineers with valuable resources while generating awareness and advocacy for Renesas technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in developer relations, technical community management, field applications engineering, technical marketing, developer advocacy, or a similar technical customer-facing role.
  • Strong understanding of developer advocacy, community-led growth, or ecosystem marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, semiconductors, software development, microcontrollers, or related technologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and developers on technical topics.
  • Experience engaging with external technical communities and online forums.
  • Experience managing 3rd party partners and / or vendors.
  • Exceptional written communication, relationship-building, and people skills.

  • Experience creating technical educational content.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and grow Renesas' presence across external engineering, developer, maker, and industry communities.
  • Build relationships with community creators, influencers, and advocates.
  • Develop programs that encourage advocacy and amplify positive customer experiences within external communities.
  • Monitor external engineering forums, discussion boards, social platforms, GitHub repositories, technical communities, and industry groups for conversations relevant to Renesas products, technologies, competitors, and market trends.
  • Surface customer feedback, product issues, feature requests, and emerging technical challenges to internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate responses to technical questions and ensure community feedback reaches the appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a voice of the external engineering community within the organization.
  • Drive Renesas’s external community content strategy, including tutorials, how-to articles, discussion responses, blog contributions, webinars, videos, and community-driven educational resources.
  • Support participation in community-led events, hackathons, technical challenges, conferences, and meetups.
  • Manage relationships with external platforms and community organizations.
  • Develop regular reports that quantify community impact and provide actionable recommendations.
