Technical Business Analyst - Custodial Projects
About The Position
tastytrade is undergoing a significant, multi-year initiative to evolve its clearing and custody infrastructure. This project involves regulatory licensing, back-office technology, and operational transformation, aiming to enhance tastytrade's capabilities in clearing, client fund custody, and support for next-generation products. The Technical Business Analyst – Custodial Projects will be integral to this effort, operating at the nexus of regulatory requirements, business operations, and system design. The role's primary responsibility is to interpret the implications of regulatory and operational mandates and translate them into clear, actionable specifications for engineering and product teams.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in a business analyst, product analyst, or similar role within financial services, fintech, or a broker-dealer / FCM environment.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex regulatory or operational requirements into clear written specifications, process documentation, and system design inputs.
- Experience working across legal, compliance, and technology teams in a cross-functional environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (Confluence, Jira, or equivalent).
Nice To Haves
- NFA/CFTC experience is preferred. Candidates with equivalent regulatory experience or other domestic or international frameworks will be considered where they demonstrate strong regulatory acumen and a track record of developing domain expertise.
Responsibilities
- Analyze regulatory, compliance, and operational requirements from legal counsel, NFA filings, and clearing agreements, and articulate their impact on system design and business operations.
- Develop and maintain process flows, data flow diagrams, and system interaction maps that illustrate current and future-state clearing and custody architecture.
- Investigate discrepancies between tastytrade's existing infrastructure and the target-state Non-Clearing FCM model, identifying risks, dependencies, and edge cases early.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, compliance, and legal teams to define and validate requirements throughout each project phase.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of decisions, outstanding questions, and lessons learned during the initiative.
