About The Position

The Technical Associate I will support neuroimaging research in the Lewis Lab at MIT. This interdisciplinary lab focuses on advanced brain imaging techniques and the neuroscience of sleep. The role involves recruiting and interacting with participants, conducting complex neuroimaging studies using EEG and fMRI, performing simultaneous EEG-fMRI procedures, processing and analyzing large neuroimaging datasets, managing lab operations, contributing to IRB protocols, and conducting literature reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, psychology, or related field.
  • Two years of experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate).
  • Ability to enter MRI scanner suite.
  • Experience with programming (ideally Matlab or Python).
  • Good interpersonal skills and comfort working with human participants.
  • Sensitive handling of confidential information.
  • Ability to conduct some experiments outside of business hours.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexible, resourceful, proactive, and collegial.
  • Motivation and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage large datasets and complex technical procedures.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and signal processing.
  • Commitment to ethical human subject research practices.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, and interact with participants for neuroimaging studies.
  • Conduct complex neuroimaging studies using multiple data acquisition methods (EEG, fMRI).
  • Perform specialized simultaneous EEG-fMRI procedures.
  • Process and analyze large-volume neuroimaging data, including signal processing, image processing, timeseries statistics, and programming.
  • Manage lab operations including supply purchasing and record-keeping.
  • Contribute to IRB protocol development and amendments.
  • Track human subject enrollment and quality improvement metrics.
  • Conduct literature reviews and provide additional project support as needed.
