About The Position

Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a Technical Assistant who will be responsible for assisting students in the classroom under the general direction of the classroom teacher(s) by providing supplementary instruction and guided clinical practice. Duties may vary depending upon individual and school situations.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid unencumbered license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Two (2) years of practice as an LPN in a clinical setting and currently in good standing
  • Ability to disseminate information, instruct, plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to observe, recognize and interpret.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
  • Supports and assists in strategic planning for developing the Performance Excellence Plan for Metro Technology Centers.
  • Assists individual students and students in small groups.
  • Assist instructors with classroom demonstrations, skills practice, competency preparation, and student remediation.
  • Observe students practicing skills and provide immediate, constructive feedback consistent with instructor guidance.
  • Demonstrate approved nursing-assistant skills using established procedures and competency checklists.
  • Prepare simulation laboratories, classrooms, and equipment before scheduled activities.
  • Conduct pre-simulation equipment checks and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and infection-control standards.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and ensure equipment is returned to its assigned location.
  • Reset rooms, manikins, equipment, and supplies between student groups.
  • Promptly report safety concerns, student performance concerns, clinical incidents, or policy violations to the instructor.
  • Support attendance documentation, skills-lab records, remediation records, and other program documentation as assigned.
  • Assist with clinical activities only when permitted by the individual's qualifications, program policies, clinical-site requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Follow FERPA, HIPAA, institutional policies, clinical-site requirements, and simulation confidentiality agreements.
  • Ensures strict compliance with all state, federal, or local laws and/or guidelines and recommendations of any accrediting agency.
  • Maintains inventory control records and notify the appropriate employee when items need to be ordered.
  • Substitutes for teacher(s)/instructor(s) following Oklahoma Department of Career Technology Education, State Department of Education, and any appropriate external governing board (such as Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Federal Aviation Administration) rules and regulations.
  • Assists in the maintenance of physical facilities, bulletin boards, and housekeeping details.
  • Ability to perform basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Attends work regularly following a designated work schedule.
  • May be needed to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
  • Must be able to attend and participate in meetings and conferences as scheduled.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
