Technical Asst - Nursing, Med/Surg
About The Position
Seeking a Full-Time day shift Technical Assistant to support our Med/Surg units. This role involves three 12-hour shifts per week, from 7 am to 7:30 pm. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of relevant experience preferred
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- Certification from Virginia Board of Nursing - preferred
- Phlebotomy and medical terminology.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care services.
- Cleans, maintains, and stocks supplies and equipment.
- Applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the assigned population.
- Receives assignments delegated by the RN.
- Accesses data reflective of the patient’s status and reports information needed to identify patient needs.
- Provides care based on established policies and procedures.
- Performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant, and other assigned duties within scope.
- Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
- Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
- Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
- Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
- Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.
- Adheres to safety measures.
