JOB TYPE Classification: Non Exempt Supervises Positions: JOB SUMMARY Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings. The Technical Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned. The Technical Assistant will receive assignments as delegated by the RN. The Technical Assistant will be able to access data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patient’s needs relative to this information. The Technical Assistant will provide care based on established policies and procedures. The Technical Assistant performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy and medical terminology
  • Certification from Virginia Board of Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care services
  • Cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment
  • Applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings
  • Receives assignments as delegated by the RN
  • Accesses data reflective of the patient’s status and report the information needed to identify each patient’s needs relative to this information
  • Provides care based on established policies and procedures
  • Performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope
  • Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse
  • Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse
  • Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment
  • Organizes supplies and equipment as needed
  • Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures
  • Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques
  • Adheres to safety measures
