About The Position

This role provides architectural and engineering leadership in Network Infrastructure by envisioning capabilities, creating business cases, architectural roadmaps and detailed designs aligned with Metrolinx Enterprise strategy in collaboration with Enterprise architecture and other stakeholders. Infrastructure includes but is not limited to Private Clouds, Public Clouds, Hybrid Clouds, Multi-Cloud, Software Defined Network Infrastructure-as-Code, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service. Ensures the network Infrastructure provides solid foundations to innovate and deliver world-class solutions to Metrolinx stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to the success of midsize-to-large initiatives with above average levels of complexity and business criticality.
  • Public Cloud Certification (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) at professional/advanced level is required
  • Experience with Cloud IaaS/PaaS, particularly Azure, including high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity
  • Experience with DevOps and automation, including GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Cloud networking and infrastructure services, including load balancing, overlay networking, Azure ExpressRoute, DNS, DHCP, PKI, routing, switching, LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and MPLS
  • Experience with storage and data protection technologies, including FC, iSCSI, FCoE, storage arrays, backup, archival, and deduplication
  • Experience with integration and low-code platforms, including API gateways
  • Experience with security, compliance, and modern infrastructure architectures, including Zero Trust, PCI-DSS, operational technology, and edge environments
  • Experience leading teams in the design, architecture, delivery, and support of complex and critical infrastructure environments, with strong problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Experience with ITIL processes, including incident, problem, and change management, and the ability to measure and communicate performance to key stakeholders.

  • Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) or higher is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, Product Managers, Cybersecurity, I&IT teams and other stakeholders to assess business needs, define future capabilities, and develop future-state Infrastructure architectures, roadmaps, standards and reference architectures.
  • Translates business requirements into Infrastructure technology requirements and detailed conceptual, logical, integration and physical designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and documentation practices.
  • Develops business cases, cost-benefit analyses, technology roadmaps and procurement requirements, including RFPs, RFIs, RQQs, Statements of Work and Bills of Materials; supports vendor and managed-service procurement.
  • Evaluates emerging Infrastructure technologies, industry trends and best practices, conducting market scans and identifying opportunities for innovation, modernization and continuous improvement.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate infrastructure and operations, embedding Infrastructure as Code, automation and CI/CD practices into Infrastructure solutions and lifecycle management.
  • Identifies and assesses Cloud Infrastructure risks, developing mitigation strategies and ensuring security, resilience and compliance are incorporated into Infrastructure solutions.
  • Provides technical leadership and hands-on expertise to project and operational teams across networking, computing, storage and development, including design validation, implementation, troubleshooting, incident/problem management and root-cause analysis.
  • Establishes service levels, performance measures and reporting, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality Infrastructure solutions on time, within budget and aligned with organizational goals.
