About The Position

The Application Specialist, supporting our North America lab equipment business, is responsible for providing critical technical application support to our customers as well as sales and product management teams. The ideal candidate has both technical and industry experience in pharmaceutical and biotech chemistry research laboratory workflows, including but not limited to solvent evaporation and freeze drying. The Application Specialist will report to the Sr. Director of Lab Equipment Sales and be responsible for the following duties plus any additional tasks requested by the Sr. Director of sales, with a focus on Genevac evaporators and VirTis benchtop freeze dryers: As a member of our SP Team, work to enhance a professional and dignified image in all contact and communication with SP Industries’ personnel, channel partners and customers. Maintain your professional integrity in all work-related situations. Continually take steps to develop and improve personal skills and knowledge, beyond what is provided or required

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of lab equipment sales or technical/applications support experience supporting pharma and biotech research laboratory customers
  • Robust knowledge of chemistry laboratory workflows and lab equipment. particularly in pharma and biotech
  • Strong industry knowledge and relationships in North America pharma and biotech market
  • Experience presenting webinars and writing whitepapers
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the life or physical sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering a plus)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a chemistry laboratory a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supports our team with product demonstrations, customer trainings, and technical presentations to grow new lab equipment sales.
  • Supports new and existing customers with workflow optimization to maximize the value of our instruments in their laboratory.
  • Develops deep relationships with key accounts and industry key opinion leaders to develop commercial resources, such as whitepapers, webinars, brochures, presentations.
  • Works closely with the UK office, particularly R&D and product management, to implement voice of customer feedback, competitive information to enhance new product development.
  • Provides first level technical support to customers in North America for our lab equipment products.
  • Regularly provides product training to the sales team.
  • Expediently prepares technical materials and support to the sales team and customers with strong attention to detail and clear communication.
  • Technical materials and support must reflect the quality expected by SP and its customers.
  • Records execution of the above accurately in Customer Record Management tool.
  • Maintains good working relationship with company members, channel partners, and customers.
  • Develops superior quality image and communicates that to channel partners and customers.
  • Communicates improvements, opportunities, new product ideas, competitive activities, and obstacles on an as needed basis through supervisor and/or marketing department.
