About The Position

Hydro One is seeking a Technical AMI Analyst for a temporary 12-month position in Mississauga. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate and auditable revenue metering by preparing and managing meter registration, planning, and data estimate documentation. The analyst will also conduct testing of AMI equipment in a lab environment, analyze equipment failures, and contribute to knowledge base development and training materials. The position involves collaborating with senior team members, regulatory bodies, vendors, and other external organizations to resolve issues and support new revenue metering initiatives.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical theory and engineering science to conduct testing of equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer technology to utilize and test various software applications for the preparation of various technical reports.
  • Good knowledge of English to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts and in the preparation of presentations.
  • Completion of 4 years of University training.
  • Experience with various aspects of revenue metering systems and other utility practices to understand methods of supporting and improving regulatory compliance and customer relations.
  • Experience to understand interrelated activities of other departments and business units.
  • Experience with audits, hand-on work on equipment testing or troubleshooting, and familiarity with various test tools related to electrical equipment.
  • Experience with federal and provincial regulatory requirements related to revenue metering.
  • Two to four years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain meter registration, planning, and data estimate documentation, records, and data systems to ensure accurate and auditable revenue metering as per regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct testing of AMI equipment, including meters and network equipment, using a variety of test equipment in a lab environment.
  • Analyze and investigate equipment failures and nonconformances with the support of senior team members and generate reports and recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of knowledge base documents, work instructions, and training on matters related to revenue metering projects, programs, equipment, associated systems, work programs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in developing standards and procedures, maintaining liaison with regulatory bodies, vendors, suppliers, and other external organizations and support the resolution of issues.
  • Assist in the development of new revenue metering initiatives.
  • Provide technical information and support documentation to Company personnel, contractors, suppliers, and government agencies on matters pertaining to wholesale & retail revenue metering, equipment, inventory, and associated meter systems and software, including regulatory requirements, policies, initiatives, and technical solutions.
  • Address technical issues related to revenue metering development, commissioning, registration documentation, regulations, standards, equipment/systems inventory support systems software and tools.
  • Maintain and recommend uniform application of metering requirements, assist in recommending departures from established policy.
  • Ensure that services provided meet or exceed regulatory, Corporate and customer requirements and expectations.
  • Calibrate, test, evaluate, and investigate equipment including metering and network equipment assets, according to established processes and safety standards.
  • Conduct meter testing, including new product certification, first article tests, vendor evaluations, reverification, sampling, and special tests, using approved testing tools and methodologies.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to the testing and product evaluation performed.
  • Conduct testing of vendor software and tools to support product certification, including creating test documents, test reports, and working with other internal teams to certify software.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement, including identifying opportunities for improvement, nonconformances, and other informal suggestions to senior team members.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of work methods, procedures, and controls to comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to electricity meters.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and assist in resolving issues identified through audits.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations related to investigations and product evaluations.
  • Assist and help coordinate assigned projects or studies on various aspects of revenue metering, meter inventory, support systems, software, and training.
  • Assist field staff by providing equipment and technical information/troubleshooting in emergency situations or when work of an unusual highly technical nature is involved.
  • Visit field locations as may be required.
  • Support the development, preparation, and delivery of courses, training material, work instructions, knowledge base documents on revenue metering and associated systems to support internal and external training and learning needs, as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required.
