About The Position

HG Law LLP (HG) is a full-service intellectual property law firm with offices in New York City, San Jose, and London. We specialize in building strategic patent portfolios that support our clients’ businesses. Our clients span a wide range of engineering and technology sectors and rely on HG’s technical expertise to help protect and advance their innovations. In January 2027, HG will merge with Lathrop GPM, bringing together the strengths of both firms and further expanding Lathrop’s Intellectual Property Practice. Candidates selected for this position will join Lathrop GPM in June 2027 as Technical Advisor Interns within the combined Intellectual Property team. We are seeking rising seniors and Master’s students (class of 2028) in Engineering (ME, EE, CE, or Physics) to join the team as Technical Advisor Interns. Working closely with experienced attorneys on patent-related matters, you will gain hands-on experience in patent law while helping deliver high-quality IP services to clients. No prior legal experience is required. This is a full-time, in-office position (5 days per week).

Requirements

Rising senior or Master’s student in Engineering (ME, EE, CE, or Physics) who will graduate in 2028.
Exceptional communication skills (written and oral).
Excellent analytical skills and a healthy imagination for problem solving.
A strong drive and willingness to own projects and see them to completion.
An excellent academic record.
You are a self-starter with a healthy curiosity and an interest in developing a career in intellectual property.
