About The Position

The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for researching, documenting, and implementing accounting policies and positions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. This role supports complex accounting areas including business combinations, revenue recognition, leases, debt and other technical matters. The position partners closely with finance leadership, external auditors, and other departments to provide clear guidance and make informed decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA
  • 6+ years of accounting experience including public accounting and/or public company technical accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and Regulation S-X.
  • Experience working with auditors or in a public company environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting (Big 4 or similar).
  • Master’s degree in accounting.
  • Experience in mining, energy, manufacturing, or similar industry.
  • Experience with Workday (ERP).
  • Experience with Workiva.
  • Experience with IFRS.
  • International experience.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze complex accounting issues under U.S. GAAP (e.g. ASC 323, 606, 718, 805, 815, and 842, etc.).
  • Monitor new FASB accounting pronouncements and SEC regulations, assess business impact, and lead implementation planning, stakeholder alignment, and training as needed.
  • Lead the preparation, review, and oversight of technical accounting memorandums documenting the company’s application of U.S. GAAP; perform and guide technical accounting research on complex transactions.
  • Support accounting due diligence, purchase accounting analyses, business combinations, asset acquisitions, and post-acquisition integration accounting.
  • Assist in technical accounting conclusions supporting periodic SEC filings, registration statements, pro forma financial information, and other reporting obligations.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to interpret contract terms and business arrangements and ensure the appropriate application of GAAP.
  • Develop, maintain, and update corporate accounting policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters and accounting policy positions.
  • Support SOX compliance drafting and documenting internal controls and SOX processes.
  • Assist Corporate Controller with special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
