About The Position

The purpose of this position is to repair musical instruments in a timely and proficient manner so they are returned in good playing order. Technicians may specialize in one instrument type or work on multiple types; brass and woodwind specialties are preferred. The role primarily involves processing rental-return instruments according to established quality guidelines and maintaining accurate production records. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Apprenticeship or a diploma from an accredited repair school.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Ability to use standard repair shop tooling and equipment.
• Two years of relevant work experience working on musical instruments daily.
• Skilled understanding and function of one or more of brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral instruments, and the ability to repair them in a timely and efficient manner.
• Goal-oriented, with the ability to produce quality repairs efficiently.
• Ability to take advice and supervision from the shop manager.
• Problem-solving and technical skills for diagnosing and repairing instruments.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
• Ability to work with others in a close environment.

Nice To Haves

• Brass and woodwind specialty.
• Four years of relevant work experience working on musical instruments daily.
• Advanced understanding and function of one or more of brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral instruments, and the ability to repair them in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Repair rental-return instruments efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Ensure each instrument is repaired according to established quality guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records for production reporting.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
