About The Position

Doctors Hospital of Laredo, in Laredo, TX, is a 183-bed acute care facility offering a range of medical services. Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), one of the nation’s largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services, operates acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, outpatient facilities, ambulatory care access points, an insurance offering, a physician network, and various related services across the U.S., Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom. This position is responsible for the operation of diagnostic equipment at a technical level not requiring direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Certification by Texas Department of health (students will have a temporary license only).
  • BLS required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas.
  • Knowledge of radiographic examinations as well as procedures that require the use of contrast agents.
  • Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety.
  • Knowledge of patient transfers and positioning technique.
  • Must possess a positive and courteous attitude, and take the initiative to go beyond what is expected in a teamwork environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Previous work experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's chart and previous examinations for consistency (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis), and records pertinent data at all times.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images, and ensures proper film identification on all images.
  • Must be able to take call when required.
  • Must perform quality control.
  • Cross trained in multiple modalities and other duties as assigned or required.
