About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs advanced neurodiagnostic studies to include Nerve Conduction Studies. This position is responsible for assisting the physician during needle EMG and EEG studies, to include the clerical duties associated with these procedures. Procedures may be performed on adolescent through geriatric aged patients in the exam room of physician practice. Depending on market need, this role may also be responsible for the following patient care needs: intraoperative monitoring, nerve conduction studies, sleep studies, magnetoencephalography, electroencephalography, transcranial doppler, etc.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Electro neurodiagnostic technology program.
  • Certification in neurodiagnostics from accredited school.
  • Must take and pass a basic arrhythmia course.
  • BLS certification by the AHA required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in nerve conduction studies and assisting physicians with neurodiagnostic studies is required.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, math and electronics.
  • Specific knowledge of peripheral nervous system, muscles and neuromuscular diseases.
  • Precise identification of waveforms and artifacts, knowledge of conduction velocity, amplitude and latency values.
  • Must be proficient in medical terminology.
  • Must successfully demonstrate neurodiagnostic competencies required.
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical ability.
  • Analytical skills, adaptability, patience and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • College level courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology preferred.
