About The Position

We are seeking a player-coach to join our rapidly growing engineering organization. This role involves contributing to core technical decisions, driving ML experimentation, and leading two engineering pods (Platform and FDE). The primary focus will be on hands-on mentorship, leadership, and raising the bar for engineering craft, attention to detail, and process. Initially, the role will be 70% individual contributor work and 30% technical leadership, with the goal to invert this distribution over time. This position is ideal for someone looking to transition into engineering management within the next 12-18 months.

Requirements

8+ years of engineering experience.
At least 1 year in a leadership role (EM, TL, Head of Eng, CTO, or equivalent).
Backend-leaning full stack expertise.
Strong proficiency in Python.
Hands-on experience in infrastructure and scaling.
A CS or STEM degree, or equivalent practical experience.
Genuine belief that agentic tools are the future of software development.

Experience in a compliance-heavy or regulated industry.

Responsibilities

Make key technical decisions and ship platform + customer code.
Drive ML experimentation.
Lead the Platform and FDE engineering pods.
Provide technical and career mentorship to engineers.
Invest in people and focus on their growth as the team scales.
Be a guiding voice in team meetings, sprint planning, and roadmap planning.
Conduct 1:1s to support team scaling.
Own and improve specific product areas, including voice and conversation design at scale, and the underlying audio streaming infrastructure.
Build and enhance the infrastructure that supports autonomous agent bug fixing, including evaluation systems, context enrichment, and safety guardrails.
Ensure the trustworthiness of agent systems through robust design and oversight.
