About The Position

Speechify's mission is to ensure that reading is never a barrier to learning. Over 50 million people use Speechify’s text-to-speech products to transform reading materials like PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio, enabling faster reading, increased comprehension, and better retention. Speechify's text-to-speech reading products are available on iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome Extension, and Web App. Google recognized Speechify as the Chrome Extension of the Year, and Apple named it App of the Day. Currently, nearly 200 employees work at Speechify in a fully distributed setting, with no physical offices. The team comprises frontend and backend engineers, AI research scientists, and professionals from companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, as well as leading PhD programs from Stanford, and high-growth startups such as Stripe, Vercel, and Bolt. Many team members are also founders of their own companies. This is a critical role suited for individuals who possess strategic thinking, thrive in fast-paced environments, are passionate about product decision-making, and have a track record of building exceptional, user-delighting experiences. Speechify operates as a flat organization where leadership is achieved through demonstrating excellent technical skills and consistently delivering results rapidly. A strong work ethic, effective communication, and a drive to succeed are essential. The interview process includes several technical interviews, typically completed within one week.

Requirements

Experience building and shipping products that have scaled to thousands or millions of users
Customer obsession: passionate about the field and desire to build high-quality products that serve customer needs
Speed: ability to work quickly to generate ideas and decide what can ship now versus what needs more time
Focus: ability to engage or be heads down in a busy, remote, high-growth startup environment
Collaboration: ability to inspire, play, and negotiate with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs
Tech Stack: Vanilla JS, ReactJS, Redux, Firebase, Typescript
