Tech lead (PHP+React)

SINGU•Paris Township, MI
•$24,000 - $27,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The TAM (Technical Account Management) area delivers customizations, dedicated functionality and system integrations for SINGU’s largest enterprise clients. Following the onboarding of a new strategic enterprise client, we are establishing a second TAM team dedicated to tailoring the SINGU platform to this client’s operations. The team will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the client’s customizations - from discovery and solution design, through integrations and data migration, to delivery, rollout and continuous improvement. We are looking for a Tech Lead to take technical ownership of this team from day one. You will define its technical direction and ways of working, act as the primary technical point of contact for the client, and ensure that every customization is delivered in a way that remains consistent with, and sustainable for, our shared multi-tenant product. The domain is demanding: requirements originate from complex business processes and evolve over time, while security, data integrity and database performance are non-negotiable.

Requirements

  • Fluent English (C1) - you run workshops, discovery calls and status meetings with international clients independently, without a translator or intermediary
  • Fluent Polish - the team works in Polish internally
  • You can turn a vague business request into a clear technical scope, explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and say “no” or “not yet” with arguments
  • Experience writing specifications, solution designs and estimates that clients sign off on
  • 1+ year as a Tech Lead (or equivalent) of a product/delivery team of 3+ engineers
  • You own architecture and technical decisions - and are accountable for them in production
  • You decompose epics into well-defined, estimable tasks before coding starts (Definition of Ready, API contracts, backend/frontend split)
  • You make delivery predictable: planning, estimation, managing ad-hoc client requests, protecting the team from context switching
  • You raise the technical bar of the team: code reviews, mentoring, technical onboarding, engineering standards
  • 5+ years of commercial PHP (7.4+/8) at scale - clean, testable, maintainable code
  • Production React experience (TypeScript preferred)
  • Strong PostgreSQL - schema design, performant queries, migrations, execution plans
  • Designing and owning REST APIs and integrations with external systems (imports, exports, SSO)
  • Security-by-default mindset (input validation, access control, data protection)
  • You actively use AI tools in your workflow and can guide the team in using them well

Nice To Haves

  • Enterprise / customization-heavy B2B SaaS background (multi-tenant, per-client variants)
  • Experience with ERP or enterprise integrations (SAP, Dynamics, PeopleSoft), SFTP/CSV/API imports
  • Phalcon framework
  • AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
  • Mobile (Flutter) awareness
  • Improving developer experience: local environments, test automation, CI speed

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical direction of the new TAM team - architecture, code quality and delivery
  • Establish the team’s ways of working - delivery process, Definition of Ready/Done, code review standards and technical onboarding, aligned with SINGU engineering practices
  • Act as the primary technical contact for the client - requirement workshops, solution design, estimates, technical status updates and escalations (in English)
  • Translate client needs into specifications and tasks the team can deliver without surprises; own the final technical specification
  • Own sprint planning, estimation and prioritization, balancing committed scope with ad-hoc client requests in alignment with account managers
  • Make architectural decisions for customizations so they don’t fragment the core product; align with Platform/Core teams and the Chief Architect
  • Review code, mentor engineers, run technical onboarding for newcomers
  • Drive engineering improvements in the team: testability, local environments, automated tests, CI
  • Stay hands-on - roughly 40–60% of your time building and reviewing production code

Benefits

  • AI-assisted development: Claude / Cursor / Copilot are part of our daily workflow
