Requirements

  • 10+ years of building solutions as a Data Engineer or in similar fields.
  • 10+ years working in Python and SQL with a focus on data.
  • Experience managing engineering teams with five or more direct reports.
  • Experience leading projects, managing requirements, and handling timelines.
  • Experience managing multiple customer-focused implementation projects across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes, and managing delivery milestones.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and confidence to take control of project delivery.
  • Ability to quickly understand a highly technical product and effectively communicate with product management and engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data plotting dashboarding tools like React and/or Streamlit.
  • Experience working with pre-clinical data and lab scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of Scientific Data Engineers (SDEs) in building Tetra Data and productizable solutions.
  • Providing mentorship to junior team members.
  • Managing engineering tasks, leading internal design sessions, implementing solutions, and driving projects to production releases.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, Scientific Business Analysts, Solution Architects) to gather business and data design objectives.
  • Supervising and collaborating on project executions.
  • Taking ownership of building data models, prototypes, and solutions that drive customer success.
  • Using LLM to build comprehensive data schemas and parsers for pre-clinical data from various sources (lab instruments, manufacturing, CRO, CDMO, ELN, LIMS) and formats (.xlsx, .pdf, .txt, .raw, .fid, vendor binaries).
  • Extracting reusable schema components and parsing functions, and productizing them into Python libraries.
  • Building high-quality data pipelines with full unit and integration test coverage.
  • Building data applications, reports, and dashboards using React, Streamlit, Jupyter notebook, etc.
  • Driving value for customers by verifying solutions meet requirements.
  • Acting as a quality gatekeeper, designing with quality backed by tests and utility functions.
  • Promoting team-wide process/technology improvements for product quality and developer experience.
  • Rallying the team to finish Agile Sprint commitments.
  • Actively surfacing and resolving team inefficiencies.
  • Resolving blockers and unclear requirements to ensure project progress.
