As Tech Lead Manager, you will guide the technical vision and engineering team shaping Google’s next-generation AI commerce platform, featured at Google I/O 2026. Balancing strategic leadership with execution, you will mentor engineers and bridge product strategy with scalable systems to power AI Native Commerce. Our team develops the foundational Universal Commerce Protocol and API layer enabling AI agents to interact directly with commerce backends across Google surfaces, including AIM and Gemini. You will lead critical initiatives spanning agent-to-merchant protocol design (discovery, cart, checkout), native system connectors, cross-organizational integrations with Search and DeepMind, and default-secure transactional trust and safety frameworks. If you develop on fostering high-impact engineering cultures and defining the future of agentic commerce, lead this core pillar of merchant growth. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with full-stack software design and architecture.
Experience developing consumer-facing applications within e-commerce, digital payments, or transactional platforms.
Experience with enterprise platforms.
Experience with people management.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience building highly-scalable distributed systems.
Experience with building Agentic experiences.
Experience with collaboration across multiple teams.
Proven track record of ownership and driving multiple software engineers for highly-visible projects.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers to design, build, and scale systems, prototypes, and platform capabilities for agentic commerce bets and next-generation shopping experiences.
Drive the technical strategy and product roadmap for agentic commerce and new user experiences, partnering closely with cross-functional leaders to identify high-impact growth opportunities and innovative technical solutions.
Contribute directly to the codebase and system design across the full technical stack, while guiding the end-to-end development of new agentic commerce bets and experimental frameworks.
Manage and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on rapid prototyping, iterative delivery, technical excellence, and long-term career growth.
Collaborate with global infrastructure, AI, and platform teams to ensure seamless integration of agentic commerce capabilities across technical environments and user touchpoints and environments.
