About The Position

This role is for a Tech III-Facilities (HVAC) position at Cincinnati Children's, located at the Liberty Campus. The primary focus is on driving results through Environment of Care initiatives, strategic plans, and complex projects within CCHMC Facilities. The position requires in-depth industrial knowledge across various engineering disciplines and strong project management expertise. It also involves prioritizing projects based on facilities best practices to maximize efficiency, improve planning, and maintain safety standards. Excellent communication skills are essential for working in a matrixed organization and a stressful environment, fostering trust and innovation. The role includes analyzing data, implementing solutions, and mentoring junior Facilities Engineers (I and II) to ensure quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance standards are met. The position also involves cross-training personnel to upskill the team and develop their competency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience in a related job discipline

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years in commercial experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
  • EPA 608 certification
  • Standard practices of the HVAC and refrigeration trade.
  • Good problem-solving skills & critical thinking.
  • Physically strong and able to stand for long periods.
  • Analyze data from routine maintenance and identifying potential malfunctions.
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Works in partnership with Leadership on Environment of Care initiatives and strategic plans and projects within CCHMC Facilities.
  • Manages ambiguity and provides clarity in highly complex projects with demonstrated ability to scope and analyze cross-functional problems to implement solutions.
  • Requires in-depth industrial knowledge with various branches of the engineering profession, for example electrical, plumbing, mechanical, maintenance or plant engineering.
  • Project Management expertise with high project scope and value-add initiatives.
  • Utilizing knowledge of facilities best practices with attention to detail with the aim to maximize efficiency, improve project planning and maintain safety standards.
  • Prioritizes projects and identifies areas where improvements could be made.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Highly experienced communicator (written and verbal).
  • Able to work in a matrixed organization, given and receive appropriate direction across, disciplines, fields of responsibility and organizational levels.
  • Able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action and while creating an environment of trust and innovation.
  • Knowledge of financial/managerial accounting and activity-based costing.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting leadership-ready comprehensive documents.
  • Mentors Facilities Engineer I and II.
  • Ensuring standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness and performance are met within scope of work.
  • Works with Leadership team to leverage project work to cross-training personnel to upskill and develop team exposure and competency.
