Assists technologists to insure efficient workflow and optimal patient care.
Requirements
Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience including the ability to start IV’s and perform angio-cath injections.
Possess basic medical terminology knowledge in order to obtain thorough medical histories.
Certification in CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens.
Must continue to obtain the recommended amount of Continuing Educations Credits each year for your certifications.
Continuing education in accordance of the ARRT, ACR, and State of Michigan.
Nice To Haves
Medical Assistant certification preferred
Must hold a current ARRT certificate if performing X-ray.
Responsibilities
Interviews patients to explain MRI procedures, obtain pertinent exam history (including symptoms, related studies, medical conditions, medications, allergies and surgeries) and to verify the safety requirements have been met for metal objects and implants which may be hazardous to the patient and/or equipment.
Assist technologist with positioning patients on scanner table and places specified coil over area of interest, confirms patients comfort - (knee cushion, blanket, pillows, fan, etc...)
Gains IV access as needed for contrast injections – does NOT inject contrast.
