About The Position

This is an urgent need for a Tech 2, Equipment Maintenance role in Sumter, SC, for a 12-month contract. The position is in the Engineering/Technical job category and is considered entry-level. The work schedule involves 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, and 3 days off, repeating, Monday through Sunday, with shifts from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The role requires operating, optimizing, and maintaining production equipment, meeting production standards, minimizing downtime, performing preventative maintenance, and maintaining accurate logs. The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring component inventories, safety guards, production environment, in-process quality, and performing QC checks. Supporting upstream and downstream operations, performing rework, and working effectively in a team are also key aspects of the role. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D preferred
  • Maintenance Repair/Mechanical Experience or Proficiency required
  • Must be proficient with basic hand tools.
  • Able to work any shift
  • Must have clear and legible handwriting

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years mechanical experience preferred
  • 6-12 months of manufacturing experience desired
  • Working with PLC's, Hydraulics and Pneumatics desired
  • Familiar with the following mechanical components, bushings, chain drives, conveyors, gearboxes, and ball valves.
  • Should also be familiar with some electrical components: sensors, photo-eyes, scales, reed switches, VFD’s.
  • Able to work autonomously and be self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Operating, optimizing, and maintaining assigned production equipment
  • Meeting and exceeding production standards while maintaining product quality
  • Minimizing and preventing equipment downtime and sustaining budgeted waste levels
  • Maintaining accurate equipment logs and recording downtime and maintenance problems
  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Starting up equipment and ensuring accurate functioning
  • Monitoring component inventories and safety guards
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly production environment
  • Monitoring in-process quality and addressing issues as needed
  • Performing required Q.C. checks and process challenges
  • Following safety and environmental procedures and Quality System Requirements
  • Supporting upstream and downstream operations
  • Performing rework as required
  • Working optimally in a team environment
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Supervisor
