About The Position

The Team Success Lead gets to help build one of the most meaningful things in a church: a staff that keeps growing. This role designs and leads the experiences that help Gateway staff grow spiritually, in character, and in skill, from their first day through every stage of leadership. Partnering with the Executive Director of Team Success and Operations, this role shapes leadership development, onboarding, performance reviews, competencies, and career pathways, and trains pastors, administrative staff, managers, and volunteer leaders. Requirements

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to keep multiple programs moving on time and on scope
  • Skilled facilitator and trainer who engages adult learners in groups of any size
  • Experience building training content, curriculum, or learning programs
  • Collaborative communicator who builds trust across teams, personalities, and levels of leadership
  • Self-starter who anticipates needs and acts before being asked
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Handles confidential staff matters with discretion and sound judgment
  • Teachable and committed to personal and professional growth
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and learning or performance management platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in organizational development, human resources, education, ministry, or a related field, or equivalent work experience — required
  • Three or more years of experience in learning and development, training, or leadership development — required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a large church, ministry, or mission-driven organization — preferred
  • Coaching certification or training in adult learning, facilitation, or instructional design — preferred
  • Familiarity with assessment tools such as StrengthsFinder, DISC, Working Genius, or Enneagram — preferred

Responsibilities

  • Designs and leads leadership development programs, cohorts, and training pathways that grow staff at every level: Lead Self, Lead Others, Lead Leaders, and Lead the Organization
  • Shapes the onboarding experience so new staff feel welcomed, connected to Gateway's culture and values, and ready to thrive, including onboarding for new Lead Team members
  • Plans and leads Team Chapel and other gatherings that connect, inspire, and develop staff
  • Builds the competencies and behavioral indicators that define great work at Gateway, and connects them to hiring, job descriptions, performance reviews, and growth plans
  • Leads the performance review process, equipping managers to give meaningful feedback and have growth-focused conversations
  • Builds manager tools and training, including the 1:1 framework, management levels, and coaching through values-based improvement plans
  • Designs and delivers pastoral training that equips pastors and ministry leaders to shepherd, lead, and serve well
  • Designs and delivers administrative training that strengthens skills, systems knowledge, and excellence among support staff
  • Equips Serve Team leaders and campus leaders through training and campus leadership nights
  • Builds career pathways for ministry and business tracks, including promotion criteria, internal job postings, and individual growth plans
  • Leads values-based hiring training and strengths and personality assessments (CDAT) that help staff and teams understand how they are wired
  • Listens to the team through pulse checks, stay interviews, and exit interviews, and turns what we learn into action
  • Champions recognition, engagement, and team care, including committees, celebrations, and Rhythms of Rest
  • Coordinates compliance training so it is built into hiring and refreshed on schedule
  • Creates engaging learning content, including facilitator guides, participant materials, videos, and eLearning
  • Project manages the team development roadmap, including Collabs, framework launches, timelines, milestones, and stakeholders
  • Partners with HR, department leaders, and campus and ministry leads to identify development needs and translate them into programs
  • Manages learning platforms (such as 15Five), tools, and vendors, and tracks engagement, completion, and impact for the Executive Director of Team Success and Operations
  • Networks with peers at other churches and organizations to bring best practices to Gateway
