About The Position

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is hiring friendly, outgoing Team Members to provide customers with fast, friendly, and efficient service and a quality, consistent product in a clean, inviting environment. Team Members work in a fast-paced setting across multiple shop stations and help customers enjoy their meals. Pay is $13.75–$14.25 plus digital tips; Potbelly does not guarantee tip earnings. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Illinois employees must become food-safety certified within 30 days of employment. Applications must be submitted by 12/4/2026, though the posting may close earlier if a suitable candidate is selected.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
• Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
• Be a team player.
• Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
• Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Illinois employees must become food-safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with food health, cleanliness, and safety standards.
• Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products, including sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream, efficiently.
• If 18 or older, use the automatic slicer to prepare food items.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate the cash register and follow cash-handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
• Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
