About The Position

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is hiring friendly, outgoing Team Members to provide customers with fast, friendly, and efficient service and consistently high-quality products in a clean, inviting environment. Team Members work across multiple shop stations and contribute to a welcoming, respectful, and collaborative workplace. Pay is $19.30–$19.80 plus digital tips; Potbelly does not guarantee tip earnings.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment. Team Members who are 18 or older may use the automatic slicer to prepare food items. Applications must be submitted by 12/1/2026, though the posting may close earlier if a suitable candidate is selected.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
• Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
• Be a team player.
• Be able to stand or walk for at least three hours or as needed.
• Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• For Illinois employees, become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work at assigned stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with food health, cleanliness, and safety standards.
• Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
• Prepare sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, and other finished products efficiently and to quality standards.
• Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils, and take out trash.
• Operate the cash register and follow cash-handling and balancing procedures.
• Handle customer complaints and issues effectively.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders by phone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
