About The Position

The Utility role provides flexible production support across manufacturing departments by assisting with equipment operation, material handling, housekeeping, and quality support to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations. Columbia Forest Products is North America's largest manufacturer of hardwood plywood and hardwood veneer products. Columbia's decorative interior veneers and panels are used in high-end cabinetry, fine furniture, architectural millwork and commercial fixtures. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout manufacturing areas.
  • Frequently required to use hands and arms to handle, position or operate materials, tools, and equipment.
  • May be required to manually handle materials up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with heavier items using team lifts or mechanical aids, in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Requires the ability to observe equipment operation and product quality and maintain awareness of surroundings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide flexible production support across Green End, Drying, Composing, and BPO departments to maintain safe, efficient operations and meet production goals.
  • Assist with material handling, processing, and quality-related tasks in accordance with standard work and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by removing debris, properly handling tools, and supporting housekeeping standards.
  • Identify and report equipment, quality, and safety issues using the andon system.
  • Support team effectiveness by assisting co-workers and providing relief or coverage as directed.
  • Perform job duties in a manner consistent with safety policies and work standards.
  • Proactive and effective communication with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and stressful situations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
