About The Position

This position is responsible for safely transporting food donations and deliveries between donors, the foodbank, and partner agencies. The CDL-B Driver ensures that products are handled properly, documented accurately, and delivered in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards—helping reduce food waste and ensure timely access to nutritious food for people facing food insecurity.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake endorsement required.
  • Forklift experience required or ability to successfully obtain forklift certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices, food safety standards, and transportation regulations.
  • Ability to apply defensive driving techniques while transporting goods through varied community traffic conditions.
  • Perform pre-service vehicle safety compliance checks on key equipment and operating systems before each route.
  • Basic math and documentation skills for processing delivery and inventory records.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated experience operating a class b commercial vehicle required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in warehouse, logistics, food distribution, or route delivery preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, lift gates, or similar material-handling equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and secure food products while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
  • Accurately complete required documentation related to transportation, receiving, and delivery of products.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, Feeding America, USDA, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors, partner agencies, volunteers, and community members.
  • Support waste reduction efforts by identifying and reporting damaged or non-compliant products.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles.
  • Support special deliveries and community events, including mobile pantries and holiday distributions, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with logistics staff, warehouse team members, and leadership to support efficient operations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned in support of food distribution operations.
