This position reports to the Production Controls and Logistics (PC&L) group. The schedule for this role is 12 hours Day 6:00am-6:30pm. One week you would work 3 nights and the next week you would work 4 nights. This is not a swing shift, just the nights in which you work rotate. Every other weekend off. Team leaders are expected to set the tone for their department by demonstrating the BorgWarner core beliefs in every aspect of their role. They are responsible for creating, analyzing, and delivering reports impacting KPIs to all levels of the organization to gauge effectiveness around continuous improvement initiatives. Collaboration and sharing of continuous improvement efforts within the department/facility is expected, as is facilitating and leading the team to implement and complete continuous improvement projects. Communication between the team, support groups, and management is key. The role involves understanding, training, and developing employees on all duties outlined in the PC&L job descriptions. Mediation of conflicts between employees and departments, with escalation to the management team as necessary, is also a responsibility. Team Leaders are accountable to the PC&L department objectives and must communicate department performance to the team. Active participation in leadership development activities sponsored by BorgWarner is expected. Employee performance evaluation during and after the orientation period, with requests for additional training if needed, is part of the role. Standard Team Leader work, such as reporting downtime, safety incidents, and quality issues, must be completed. Compiling, storing, and retrieving PC&L data as necessary, and coordinating activities to ensure internal and external customers’ needs are met, are also required. Support for change management initiatives and completion and submission of Monthly Safety training are essential. Adherence to FIFO standards throughout all storage areas and material flow points is mandatory. Initial investigation and documentation for all safety incidents, SAP entries and transactions as needed, and use of appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through the nonconforming material procedure are required. Support for self-development to allow for department flexibility through learning multiple positions and supporting based on business needs is encouraged. Safe operation of all equipment and maintenance of certifications within the PC&L fleet, including Powered Industrial Equipment (Tugger, Sit Down, Pacer, Reach, Swing Reach, Electric Jacks), and BW company vehicles, is necessary. Reading and understanding work instructions or following instructions to execute material flow requirements is essential. Manually loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand is required. Accurate and timely entry of materials transactional information into SAP and other systems is necessary. Reading electronic and manual bill of materials, pull sheets, and pick sheets to retrieve and deliver necessary materials is part of the job. Use of appropriate deviation areas and hold tags to process defective parts through the nonconforming material procedure is required. Loading/Unloading materials into trailers adhering to Dock Safety Protocol is necessary. Support on inventory management by performing root cause analysis for all variations with inventory is required. Assisting in training and educating employees within the department and performing other duties as assigned, including operating P.I.T., material movement, and PC&L Operator roles, are part of the responsibilities. Emphasis is placed on Battery Operation, repacking material to introduce to the production line to a quality standard. Ensuring hazmat shipping and receiving requirements are held to standard and followed, and that safety requirements are followed and always maintained during material movement, are critical.
